Varsity Boys Head Coach
Gregory Loht gregory.loht@verizon.net

I graduated from Chief Logan in 1975 and Lock Haven in 1979.  I ran cross country and track for 4 years.  This is my 9th year as the Boys Cross Country coach at Mifflin County High School.  I have also coached the distance runners in track for the past 12 years and have been a long time volunteer coach for both cross country and track. I reside with my wife Jenny in Lewistown and have 3 sons:  Lucas, Seth and Benjamin.

"The very act of surpassing personal limits in training and racing will bend the mind and body toward a higher purpose for the rest of my runner's lives, settling for mediocrity-settling for good enough- becomes less and less of an option.  And with so many in the world all too happy to bask in mediocrity- settling instead of pushing - those who learn to be the best version of themselves know the secret to a full life"  Martin Dugard  To Be a Runner

Varsity Girls Head Coach
Neil Breneman

mcxccoach@gmail.com

Coach Neil grew up in Lancaster County, PA and has lived in Lewistown with his family since 2016. He is married to Catie who is a teacher in the Mifflin County School District and has three children, Luke, Logan, and Layla. Neil was a farm boy as a child through his teenage years choosing to work rather than experience high school athletics like running. In the past 5 years he has devoted himself to learning about running by devouring books from the best coaches and getting out and doing plenty of running himself; including running 1,800 miles in one year. After serving two years as an assistant coach in Cross Country, he is excited for the opportunity to be the girls Cross Country head coach beginning in the 2021 season. He has also volunteer coached in indoor and outdoor Track and Field.

Coach Neil has extensive experience working with the development of youth and is passionate about their overall development. He understands many of the challenges that junior/senior high school girls face and wants to support and encourage them as they become young women. He desires to develop character, discipline, and confidence in each of the young women he coaches and to help them create and accomplish their personal goals. He loves to encourage the athletes so you will often see him running with them at practice and moving around cheering them on during competition. Coach Neil is excited to build the Huskies Cross Country program and to bring out the best in each member of the team!
