Although this is my first year as the Head Coach of Mifflin County Indoor Track and Field, I have been coaching the sport within this district since I started teaching in 1998.

I graduated from Lewistown Area High School after participating in four years of track and field as a sprinter and jumper. I went on to the college level and earned the privilege to compete all four years at Penn State University, primarily in the Triple Jump event. I have much appreciation for coaches Dick Yearick and Carmen Mann for helping me to grow as an athlete and person.

After college, I became employed as a teacher at IVMS and began my coaching career with the Indian Valley track team as an assistant for Coach Ron Sprecher. Over the years, I have coached at all three high schools in Mifflin County and volunteered with Juniata Valley Striders Youth program. My husband and children were right there with me, as he also started coaching a few years later and Malik, Kiana and Josiah competed in our programs.

Track and Field has been a lifetime passion. I believe it is a sport that has something for everyone, whether they enjoy the pure speed of running or the power of jumps and throws. Additionally, joining track is joining a family that works hard together and celebrates each other’s individual accomplishments as they strive for their team goals. I am excited to be able to continue to be involved and hope to pass my passion for the sport on to this generation of athletes
